A big day – the engine and gearbox are lifted out, to leave us with a rolling chassis.
As always, I meant to take more pictures, so this is the first one, with the engine lifted up and ready to drop in the trailer. The engine came out very easily; the only small difficulty being getting the engine mounts unloosened and swung aside so that the engine could move forward to free it from the gearbox shaft.

The gearbox still sitting the chassis, swinging back with the weight of the transfer box and handbrake drum.

Ready to drop the engine into the trailer.

With the gearbox lifted out of the chassis. This was fairly straightforward, the block and tackle wasn’t needed. We just lifted the box onto the side of the chassis, and then moved it into the wheelbarrow to move away.

Last major job of the day, the wheels off and the chassis suspended ready to get the springs and steering gear off. We pulled the shocks off today as well, as we had a bit of time in hand.

Another picture of the chassis. Tyres and rims are piled up ready for next weekend – I’ll get the tyres off the rims, and get the rims away to be sandblasted.

The engine in the trailer, ready to be carted off. I’m getting the front and rear seals replaced while it’s out of the chassis. I made up a transport jig to keep the engine steady while I haul it around, I don’t think it’ll move.

The gearbox sitting on some sawhorses, ready for some more cleanup. I’ll clean up the gearbox mounts (underneath the gearbox) and shocks as well. The shocks don’t feel too bad, but I’ll get a second opinion on them to confirm.

I’ll have to get the gear lever off, and all the other minor bits which are made of black steel. They all need cleaning up and painting.

It was warm today, and the humidity was down, so I decided that I would do a coat of paint on the various plates I have pulled off. I painted the back of these paints, the other evening, when it was colder and more humid, and got a bloom on the paint. Luckily I had decided to do the backs of the plates first, in case there was a problem.
It was warm and dry today, but I think I still got a minor bloom on the front of the plates. It’s barely visible, and I’m the only person who’ll see it, so I’m not going to try to cut the clears back and repaint.
