Sorting out the brake lines turned out to be a much bigger job than I expected.
Fairly early on I decided that I would need to improve a bit on the braking system on the Series II. The front axle has already been replaced with an axle off a 109”, with 11” brakes and twin leading shoes, so that’s a good start.
I then decided to put on servo assisted brakes from a Series III, and set about collecting the bits. I got the master cylinder from lrseries.com, the proportioning valve of ebay, and many thanks to Diana Alan for donating the servo unit. For the record, the part numbers are:
Master cylinder NRC6096
Servo unit AEU1043
Proportioning valve NRC4880
The next step was to install all the brake pipes. This was pretty straightforward as far as the wheel cylinders are concerned, everything is a 3/8 UNF fitting.
The proportioning valve and master cylinder are a different matter. Again for the record, this is how it fits together:
Yes, there are metric and imperial mixed on the same fitting.
Yes, the 3/8UNF on the master cylinder connects to the 7/16UNF on the proportioning valve.
Yes, the 12mm on the master cylinder connects to the 3/8UNF on the proportioning valve.
No, the 3/8 fittings don't connect to each other, that would be too sensible.
I hope this helps somebody else, it took a while to figure this lot out.

After getting that sorted out, installing the pipes was a doddle.
